We’ve all head the news that Instagram (recently purchased by Facebook) is updating their Terms of Service (TOS). The new policy includes their rights to sell your pictures for use in advertisements. You get no notification or compensation for your images – just the surprise later when you see one of your pictures in an ad.
If you want to opt-out of that, you have some recourse:
- Delete your Instagram account now (before the policy goes into effect on January 16, 2013)
Oh and minors are not omitted from their policy either:
“If you are under the age of eighteen …. you represent that at least one of your parents or legal guardians has also agreed to this provision.”
Could we be missing a really fun opportunity here? Commercial for Instagram TOS
